  • Nebraska Medicaid Changes For 2017

Effective January 1st, 2017, all Nebraska Medicaid insurance plans will be administered by Heritage Health. All Nebraska Medicaid patients will receive a letter from Heritage Health asking them to select a new managed Medicaid insurance carrier and to designate their Primary Care Provider, also known as their PCP. Heritage Health will systematically assign an insurance carrier and a PCP to any patient who has not made their own insurance carrier selection or PCP designation.

All established Family Practice patients who have insurance coverage with Nebraska Medicaid, Arbor Health or Aetna Better Health at the end of 2016, should select their new managed Medicaid insurance carrier from either United Healthcare Community Plan or Nebraska Total Care (Centene) and designate a Family Practice physician as their PCP if patients want to have their medical services provided at Family Practice and paid for as “in-network” through Family Practice.

Established OB patients, who will deliver after January 1st, 2017, are reminded to designate a Family Practice physician as their baby’s PCP and to select their baby’s new managed Medicaid insurance carrier from either United Healthcare Community Plan or Nebraska Total Care (Centene) soon after delivery, if they intend to also have their baby’s medical services provided at Family Practice and paid for as “in-network.”
